Mariette & Peguy’s French Congolese Wedding.

Mariette and Peguy’s, wedding was one of those love stories that quietly defy distance, language, and logistics, and still come together beautifully.

Spanning multiple provinces, languages, and cultures, their celebration was a powerful reminder that when love is clear and planning is intentional, distance becomes just another detail to manage, not a barrier. This French Congolese wedding in Quebec was filled with warmth, cultural pride, and unmistakable joy, thoughtfully planned to honour who the couple are and the community they belong to.

If you’re navigating a long-distance relationship, planning across provinces, or bringing culture and language together in one celebration, this story should inspire you.

A Love That Crossed Provinces

At the time of planning, Mariette lived in Windsor, Ontario, while Peguy was based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Their wedding, however, would take place in Quebec, surrounded by a guest list that was 90% French-speaking.

Despite the distance, and the language dynamics, the couple made a clear decision: they wanted their Toronto-based, English-speaking planner to plan and produce their dream French Congolese wedding.

That trust was both humbling and energizing.

From the very beginning, the planning journey was collaborative, intentional, and full of joy. Long-distance meetings, careful coordination, and thoughtful communication ensured that every decision aligned with the couple’s vision, proving that seamless planning is less about proximity and more about structure, experience, and care.

Creativity in the Details: A Portrait That Told Their Story

Because the couple couldn’t have a traditional engagement shoot due to distance, we leaned into creativity.

Instead, we proposed a custom caricature couple portrait, a playful, personal alternative that still allowed them to celebrate their love visually. The couple immediately connected with the idea, and the result became a meaningful keepsake that reflected both their personalities and their unique journey.

It was a simple but powerful reminder that thoughtful planning often means finding solutions that feel personal, not conventional.

A Warm Union, Felt by Everyone Present

When the wedding day finally arrived, and the team met Mariette and Peguy in person, their warmth was unmistakable.

The love between them didn’t need explanation; it was visible in the stolen glances, gentle touches, blushing smiles, and effortless interaction they shared throughout the day. Their connection filled the room, setting the tone for a celebration rooted in affection, respect, and joy

It was an honour to plan and produce a union that felt so genuine and deeply connected.

A Celebration of Congolese Culture

Culture took centre stage throughout the celebration, expressed through fashion, music, dance, and energy.

The bridesmaids stepped out beautifully dressed in uniform blue African print, moving gracefully as they showcased traditional dance steps that reflected their rich Congolese heritage. Their presence added rhythm, colour, and vibrancy to the day, transforming the ballroom into a space alive with cultural pride.

And the wedding cake?

A true sight to behold, thoughtfully designed to reflect the ceremony’s colour palette, standing as both a visual centrepiece and a sweet symbol of celebration.

The After Party: Joy Unfiltered

As the evening transitioned into the after-party, the energy soared.

Mariette dazzled in a silver dress, complemented by Peguy’s black suit; they effortlessly commanded the room with elegance and confidence. Guests responded in kind, filling the floor with joyful dance routines and expressive movement, a beautiful display of culture, celebration, and collective happiness.

It was the perfect ending to a day that began with intention and unfolded with ease.
