Rukayat & Dami’s Yoruba Multi-event Wedding

Some weddings are beautiful, and some weddings feel deeply intentional, rooted in culture, and filled with unmistakable joy.

Rukayat and Dami’s wedding was one of those celebrations.

From meaningful words of love to carefully curated looks and vibrant family moments, their wedding day unfolded as a heartfelt reflection of who they are, individually and together. This celebration was not just about aesthetics, but about heritage, creativity, and connection, all thoughtfully orchestrated to create a seamless and unforgettable experience.

If you’re drawn to weddings where culture is honoured, details are intentional, and love is celebrated boldly, you’ll want to read this story to the very end.

Meet the Bride: Rukayat (Ashabi), A Yoruba Beauty with a Creative Soul

Rukayat, fondly called Ashabi, is a talented creative bead maker whose artistry and attention to detail were beautifully woven into unique aspects of her wedding. When asked to describe her love for her husband, Dami, she simply shared that she had “found the one my soul loves.”

That depth of emotion translated effortlessly into the day, from the way she carried herself to the thoughtful personal touches she added to the celebration.

One of the most memorable details?

Rukayat personally crafted stunning beaded bouquets for herself and her bridesmaids, a unique expression of love, creativity, and cultural pride. These bespoke pieces were not just accessories, but meaningful keepsakes that elevated the bridal party’s look while reflecting the bride’s personal craft.

Three Looks, One Story: A Seamless Style Journey

Rukayat and Dami’s wedding style unfolded in three distinct looks, each carefully chosen to reflect a different chapter of their celebration, tradition, elegance, and celebration.

The Traditional Look: Rooted in Heritage

For their traditional ceremony, the couple stepped out in beautifully tailored wine and orange Aṣọ Oke, richly detailed and impeccably styled. The colours symbolised warmth, and celebration, a perfect representation of a Yoruba union.

Every element of this look honoured tradition while still feeling refined and modern, reflecting the couple’s desire to celebrate culture with elegance and intention.

The White Wedding: Timeless and Elegant

Following the Traditional yoruba wedding, we transitioned to the white wedding ceremony. The couple chose a look that was classic, graceful, and effortlessly stylish.

Dami appeared in a well-tailored white suit, exuding confidence and quiet sophistication. Rukayat complemented him perfectly in a beautiful white wedding dress and chose to style her natural hair in a stunning short curls look, embracing a look that was soft, elegant, and timeless.

Together, they embodied the beauty of unity, calm, assured, and fully present in the moment.

The After Party: Modern, Playful, and full of Joy

As the celebration shifted into the after-party, so did the energy.

The couple changed into stunning lilac retro styled outfits, signalling a more relaxed, playful atmosphere. Rukayat opted for a chic jumpsuit that allowed her to move freely and enjoy every moment, while Dami wore a well-tailored pair of trousers with a cropped shirt, striking the perfect balance between a unique style and celebration-ready comfort.

This look captured the joy of the evening,  carefree, stylish, and deeply joyful.

Family, Fun, and Unforgettable Moments

One of the most heartwarming aspects of the day was the visible bond between Rukayat and her siblings. Throughout the celebration, they shared laughter, created content, danced freely, and kept the energy alive, a beautiful reminder that weddings are not just about the couple, but about the community that surrounds them.

These moments of spontaneity and connection added a vibrant, personal rhythm to the celebration, making the day feel warm, lived-in, and genuinely joyful.
